Job Description
Job Summary The Creative Design Manager will be essential in visually representing our family-owned broadcasting company across all local markets of Morgan Murphy Media and for Corporate. This role involves creating compelling, localized designs that reflect our unique community values and connect with diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have a balance of creative vision, technical skills, and an understanding of local broadcast branding and effective communication strategies. Reports to the 2 Morgan Murphy Media Directors in the corporate marketing group and the VP of Marketing. Our preference is this role is based on site in Madison, Wisconsin but we will consider remote candidates.
Duties And Responsibilities Graphic Design Production
- Design and produce a wide variety of on-air, digital, and print materials, including station graphics, promotional ads, social media visuals, event materials, and website assets.
- Collaborate with Marketing Group’s team to create brand-consistent and community-centric designs that resonate with local audiences.
Brand Management
- Maintain brand standards across all stations, ensuring graphics adhere to company-wide guidelines while reflecting each market’s unique identity.
- Collaborate on the ongoing development of brand assets, helping to unify the visual identity across all stations and communities.
- Provide guidance on the visual aspects of all marketing materials and offer design support to individual stations as needed.
Project Coordination and Innovation
- Manage multiple design projects from concept through completion, working with stakeholders across different stations to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
- Communicate effectively with marketing and production teams in various locations to gather requirements, present drafts, and incorporate feedback.
- Maintain an organized archive of design files, brand assets, and project documentation accessible to all stations.
- Stay updated on local and industry design trends to keep visuals fresh and relatable for each station’s audience.
- Suggest and implement innovative design approaches that highlight each station’s community involvement and enhance the local brand presence.
Qualifications Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in graphic design, preferably within the broadcasting or media industry.
Skills - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, After Effects, etc) and experience with design software tailored to broadcasting needs.
- Strong understanding of local branding, typography, color theory, and layout principles.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple teams across different locations, handling feedback constructively and diplomatically.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with video graphics playout systems (Chyron, Ross Xpression, etc)
- Basic understanding of HTML and web design.
