Independent Living Advocate Location Norwich, CT :
  • Independent Living Advocate
  • Full-time (35 hours/week) Location: Norwich, CT

    The Disabilities Network of Eastern Connecticut (DNEC) is a nonprofit agency dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities in Eastern Connecticut. We believe in empowering people to live independently while advocating for inclusive communities.

    About the Role

    As an Independent Living Advocate , you will:✔ Provide advocacy, independent living skills training, and referrals.✔ Support individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals.✔ Offer training on disability awareness and inclusion to employers, community groups, and organizations.✔ Respond to information and referral requests.✔ Maintain case files and submit reports in a timely manner.✔ Travel within the community to meet individuals in their homes or other locations.

    Who We're Looking For

    ✅ Passion for disability rights and independent living.✅ Strong communication, organization, and computer skills (Microsoft Office).✅ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.✅ Experience with or knowledge of disabilities and independent living.✅ Reliable transportation for community visits.

    Lived experience with a disability is highly valued, and we encourage individuals with disabilities to apply.

    Additional Requirements

    • Willingness to obtain training in First Aid, CPR, and other relevant areas.
    • Ability to pass a background check.
    • Willingness to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
